David Schnabel, Advisor

David Schnabel has over 25 years of experience leading, funding, acquiring and advising growth-oriented businesses across a wide range of sectors. He is a managing partner of Phoenix Strategy Investments, a private equity group formed to acquire and grow small- to medium-sized privately-held businesses.

In the past, David served as president and board director of ExamSoft, a leading ed-tech company that grew dramatically to serve thousands of institutional clients in higher education, K-12 education, and professional certification. He also served as CEO of Gold's Gym International, one of the largest fitness chains in the world with hundreds of locations across 27 countries. As CEO, David led and grew owned club operations, global franchising and brand licensing. The company developed and implemented new management systems and processes to support its growth and expanded the business through new greenfield development, expanded franchising, and targeted acquisitions. David was also a senior leader and a driver of the development and growth of McKinsey & Company's Academy, a global business created to help clients build their employees' capabilities to transform their strategies and operations, and to generate long term results.

Earlier in his career, David led and asset-managed investments across a range of industries, from real estate to multi-unit concepts, for TRT Holdings, a multibillion-dollar private holding company, worked as an investment banker for Goldman Sachs and served as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company.

David holds an AB in Economics and Political Science, with distinction, from Stanford University and an MBA, with distinction, from Harvard Business School.
